One of the most disturbing things about termite damaged homes is that vendors will go to great lengths to hide it from you. Removed and replaced damaged timber members may leave no trace of the damage especially when the whole thing is dressed up as a legit reno. Even the best pre purchase property inspector may not pick it up if its skilfully done. Luckily the attempts at cover up are usually amateurish and there may be clues if you know where to look. Just this week I inspected a renovated dwelling and the owner was adamant that there was no history of termite damage. I found otherwise.
