New house slab, top Dollar equals top job? Don’t bet on it!

Recently I inspected lab preparation for a new home by one of the premium builders. The preparations were woeful and inadequate. This is what I said : (edited)

Expert Opinion:

Builder has ignored earlier warnings of inadequate preparation and has gone ahead with the concrete pour.

  1. Work was carried out before 7 AM in breach of planning permit conditions
  2. Modified slab has not been reinspected by building inspector
  3. Inadequately secured formwork has bowed, leading to sub standard concrete edges
  4. There was no builder’s supervision and site control on site
  5. The concreter on site did not have the latest relevant drawings
  6. There was no display of approved drawings on site as required by building regulations
  7. There was no quality control
  8. Formwork modifications were done as the concrete was poured

In relation to the above there is serious breach of professional standards and breach of customer’s expectations from “xxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx builder” as advertised by xxxxxx xxxxx.

In my opinion builders performance on site is equivalent to beginner doing first slab.

There is no indication that xxxxxx xxxxx has supervision and site control systems in place to satisfy advertised performance. Consequently advertising is misleading and deceptive.

In my opinion the owner has right to be extremely disappointed with build experience
