Termites are timber pests and like all pests they require food water, and the ambient conditions to survive and thrive. If you provide all of the above in and around the home you could be asking for trouble. Check out the photo below:

It would be common sense to remove tree stumps and dead wood from around home, yet we use timber sleepers in garden walls (more termite food)

Once the termite nest becomes established in the rotting stump close to your home it will become a colony looking for more food (your house). Are you asking for trouble?
